"I just wanted to add that some people also get nauseous when they are anxious and have concerns they they might be sick in front of people if they eat. Anxiety and the resulting symptoms such as nausea and a dry mouth can also take away your appetite making it even harder to eat around other people."

That's exactly how I feel Nick. I look forward to hearing your recommendations for overcoming this.

Thank you.

Thanks Nick, I came across your post after a Google search on the subject. I could totally relate to your comments about eating at work.

I never used to have this problem, but since moving to a new job in a much quieter office (it's like a library most of the time) I have become acutely aware of how much noise I make when I eat and how it must be annoying to other people.

The problem I have is that I know I am a fairly loud eater, I've had people comment on it in the past. I make sure I eat with my mouth closed and try to chew quietly but it's so quiet at work that I still feel like I'm making lots of noise and irritating everyone.

I eat meat stews most lunchtimes so I have to chew my food a fair bit. Stress is not good for the digestive system and lowers HCI production, I need to look into choosing food that will make less noise when I eat.

Still, it was good to hear that others have this problem or have had it in the past. It can be overcome, I realise it's just a part of social axiety and caring too much about what other people might be thinking. I'm sure there are people out there who eat with their mouths wide open, chewing, choping and slurping away, never giving a moments thought to what others might think about the noise they are making.

Hi! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site? I'm getting sick and tired of Wordpress because I've had problems with hackers and I'm looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
